A fine clear example struck on a broad flan. About extremely fine. From the Cologny Collection. Until 2003 this coin, and many others, had been ascribed to Clermont-Ferrand (Civitas Arvernorum) but in that year Crinon published his major study, which convincingly reattributed them to Reims. It should be noted that the obverse of this coin has often been described as having a palm branch before the bust: this is incorrect, what was termed a palm is simply part of the wreath border.) |
