(MEROVINGIANS, Pseudo-Imperial coinage. temp. Charibert I to Chilperic I. 561-584. AV Tremissis (16mm, 1.34 g, 6h). Imitating a Constantinople mint issue of the Byzantine emperor Justin II. Struck 565-578. D IV(retrograde S)T I?V(retrograde S) C, diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust right, à la boucle perdue / VICTOR[I]? ?VCO(retrograde S), Victory standing facing, holding wreath and cross; star in right field; CO?O. NM ; cf. Belfort 5864 (for type, but with name of moneyer on rev.); cf. MEC 1, 362 (same). VF, area of weak strike on reverse at periphery, minor light scratch on obverse.
