Arent Pol, of the former Dutch Geldmuseum, researcher at the Leiden University, extensively research the gold Merovingian coinage. He analyzed the alloy of this piece, as 0.73 Gold, which is lower than the gold tremissis Belfort 6410 (IDICIAMVNITARIVS / BABAVCOV), with an alloy of 0.85 Gold. The chronological classification of this tremissis is complicated because there is just a few known of the same type. This tremissis should date from the second half of the sixth century.
